Acupuncture

Body acupuncture is a healing art that can be traced back almost 5000 years ago. It involves the insertion of very fine needles on the body's surface often along energy pathways called meridians. A person's health is influenced by the flow of Qi (energy) along these meridians. Any imbalance in the flow of Qi can cause illness.

Acupuncture is said to restore this balance. It acts to normalize the functioning of the body. Auricular acupuncture is the insertion of needles in the ear to treat dysfunction in other parts of the body. The entire human body can be mapped on the ear. Therefore by inserting a needle on the ear in the (ie.) shoulder point can decrease pain and increase movement at the shoulder.

The whole body and all of the body's systems (ie. cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, hormonal etc.) can be treated through the ear. This phenomenon has been scientifically proven as these points on the ear stimulate the same area of the brain as the "actual" body part does.
